FC Barcelona have been working to finalise their squad ahead of their preseason tour. Set to travel to Asia, the Catalan giants will primarily be travelling between Japan and South Korea. This tour is expected to be financially beneficial for Barcelona, but also from a sporting perspective.
However, there is a limit set on the number of players that Flick will take alongside him to that preseason tour. While a lot of players are eager to be on that plane, not everyone will be able to join Barcelona on that endeavour.
Interestingly, one of those names looks likely to be a club captain. Since the last few weeks, there have been reports suggesting that Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s back problems continue to linger and that the player is potentially even considering to undergo surgery.

Now, as per the latest update from Mundo Deportivo, it looks certain that the Barcelona captain will not be travelling with the rest of his teammates. Primarily due to his back-related issues, as they do not exactly help him in this matter.
However, the whole issue with Ter Stegen right now goes much deeper than that. Barcelona is actively trying to offload the player somehow, as it is believed that his departure could make it much easier for the club to register players.
In fact, with Joan Garcia already at the club now and Wojciech Szczesny’s renewal having been confirmed, Ter Stegen’s position within the team is hardly anything significant anymore. Moreover, with other arrivals expected, Barça need him to make a decision soon.
The whole operation involving Marcus Rashford seems to have been finalised as well already. With the English winger now looking set to arrive, Barcelona will definitely need some salary space to register the Manchester United forward.
