Barca made the trip to the Basque Country yesterday evening, to take on Ernesto Valverde’s Athletic Club as part of the final round of fixtures of the La Liga season.

When all was said and done, the Catalans, long crowned Spanish champions, emerged on the right side of a 3-0 result, owing to a Robert Lewandowski brace, and a late spot-kick on the part of Dani Olmo.

And as alluded to above, in the process, Barcelona notched another noteworthy piece of recent football history.

As revealed by statisticians StatMuse, with a total of 102 racked up in La Liga over the course of 2024/25:

‘Barcelona are the first team to score 100+ goals in a season since 2019/20 in Europe’s top 5 leagues.’
