Barcelona’s pre-season is an enjoyable period for the manager in charge, for it provides him with a special opportunity to take auditions from young academy talents who have been identified.
Concurrently, however, it is a complicated period for the managers of the subsidiary teams, for they are ascertained to be without their best talents, who will all be under the first-team manager’s command.
For the tour to Asia this time around, Hansi Flick called up several young talents. including Pedro Fernandez, Jofre Torrents, Toni Fernandez and Guille Fernandez.
The reserve team – Barça Atletic, however, are without the same players in their pre-season as they look to rebuild after last term’s devastation.
Speaking to the media in a recent interview, Barça Atletic manager Juliano Belletti was asked about the various talents under his jurisdiction who could have a key role to play for the Barcelona first team next season.
He first began by praising the youngsters who made their debut as part of Hansi Flick’s team’s pre-season game against Vissel Kobe, but insisted that there were many more talents than young Pedro Fernandez ‘Dro’, who scored on his debut.
“Not only Dro, but there are many players here who can help the first team.”

Commenting on Jofre Torrents, who also made his first appearance for the senior side last week, the tactician said,
“Jofre has been with us for a short time. He started well and then went to the subsidiary, especially because of the offensive quality he had.”
“He improved a lot defensively, and yes, he can reach the first team, and we are happy that he is in a good moment,” he added.
The manager was then asked about Roony Bardghji, who was signed as a player for the B team but earned a direct debut for the first team in pre-season.
“Bardghji’s future depends on the first team.”
Finally, Belletti was asked about the future of Jan Virgili, especially amidst news that the player is pushing for a departure from the club after being denied a direct place in Flick’s team.
“You have to ask Jan, I don’t know anything. Maybe the club does, I have no idea,” he said.
