Since joining Manchester City in 2021, Erling Haaland has firmly established himself as one of the best players on the planet.

The Norwegian international boasts an impressive tally of 101 goals in just 108 competitive matches. Over the past few seasons, he has undisputedly been the best Premier League striker.

However, despite playing for Man City, his future at Etihad Stadium is far from secure, with Spanish champions Real Madrid keen on his services.

Haaland: Dream signing for Barcelona

While Real Madrid’s interest in Haaland is well-documented, the former Dortmund striker is a target for Barcelona as well.

In fact, a recent report from Florian Plettenberg suggests Haaland is the ‘dream signing’ for FC Barcelona, as they look to prepare for life without Robert Lewandowski.

Although the Pole has been in terrific form this season, he is already in the final phase of his career and Barcelona must soon find a long-term replacement.

The Catalans signed Vitor Roque as a potential long-term solution in the number nine position, but the Brazilian endured a difficult time in Catalonia.

As such, Haaland has been identified as a marquee signing by club president Laporta and his board. In fact, reports had suggested that Barcelona could go all out for him next year itself.

Barcelona can’t sign Haaland in 2025

However, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is not working on signing Haaland just yet. He is aware of the fact that a 2025 move for the Norwegian is next to impossible.

Haaland himself is not looking for a move elsewhere, despite initial suggestions that he could leave once Pep Guardiola’s contract at Man City comes to an end.

Plettenberg adds that a Barcelona move for Haaland may only be possible in the next two to three years, presumably when the club recover from their economic woes.

One would expect Haaland himself to look for a move elsewhere in the next few years, thus opening up an opportunity for Barcelona.

However, with Real Madrid also on the prowl, the Catalans must act swiftly if they are to have any hope of signing the Man City forward.
