A fresh and altogether bizarre twist in the ongoing player registration saga at La Liga giants Barcelona has this evening played out online.
As much comes after Joan Laporta posted and subsequently deleted a lengthy post on his official WhatsApp account.
This came in relation to the club’s widely publicised efforts to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor for the 2nd half of the campaign.
The message in question, as relaid by Barcelona insider Gerard Romero, can be read in full below:
“The RFEF, having heard FCB’s arguments, agrees with them in the sense that article 130.2 of the RFEF Regulations is NOT applicable to the Dani Olmo/Pau Víctor case, given that, in this case, the players have left the club, not because of the club’s will (which is what this article foresees) but because of factors outside and contrary to the club’s will. It is an undisputed fact that both the club and the players want to remain in the FCB squad for the whole season. This interpretation of the rule is consistent with the obvious purpose of that article, which is precisely to promote the stability of the composition of the players‘ squads, don’t know the reason.”
Laporta’s post has since been widely interpreted to mean that he considers the Spanish Football Federation as being in Barcelona’s corner when it comes to their player registration efforts.
The Spanish patron’s decision to delete it so quickly after posting, however, would appear to suggest that he perhaps did not intend for the message to be made public.
Another confusing twist in a bizarre and increasingly frustrating saga at the Camp Nou.
