Barcelona president Joan Laporta on Saturday organised a sit-down meeting with Blaugrana stars Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor.
This, of course, comes amid the ongoing efforts of the board at the Camp Nou to register the pair for the remainder of the campaign.
After claims to the contrary emerged in the media on Friday night, Barcelona, on Saturday, were dealt a fresh blow in the ongoing registration case.
This came by way of a joint-statement on the part of La Liga and the RFEF, confirming that they had rejected the Catalans’ latest appeal:
‘The Monitoring Committee of the LALIGA-RFEF Coordination Agreement has met to address the request for a prior visa and processing of the federation licenses of the players Mr. Daniel Olmo Carvajal and Mr. Pau Víctor Delgado, issued by FC Barcelona.
‘Following compliance by FCB with the requirements regarding LALIGA’s financial control on 3 January 2025 and the Club completing the relevant documentation, LALIGA’s Budget Validation Body has decided to extend the FCB Sports Squad Cost Limit from the aforementioned date.
‘In this regard, having been requested the licenses for the referred players by FC Barcelona, after analysis of the applicable federation regulations, the Monitoring Committee agrees not to grant the prior visa, nor the definitive license requested by FC Barcelona for the players Mr. Daniel Olmo Carvajal and Mr. Pau Víctor Delgado in accordance with the literal interpretation of articles 130.2 and 141.5 of the General Regulations of the RFEF that prevent a player whose license is cancelled, from being able to obtain a license in the same club team to which he was already linked, during the course of the same season.’
This outcome meant that both Olmo and Víctor were left to simply watch on, as their teammates departed for a Copa del Rey meeting with Barbastro earlier today.
Following as much, though, both were called into a personal meeting with Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
That’s according to Blaugrana insider Toni Juanmartí of Diario Sport, who has also provided an insight into the details of the sit-down between the three:
‘Laporta was with both players for a long time, explaining the situation to them. And he reassured them regarding a registration in which the club continues to have full faith.’
