FC Barcelona remain the only team in the top five European leagues to maintain an unbeaten record since the start of 2025. However, the Blaugranes have some very hectic months ahead of them, in which they will be looking to compete for three major titles, La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, and the Copa del Rey.

Thus, the coming month can be crucial for the Catalans. However, another factor that will make this month even more crucial is the deadline approaching for the Higher Sports Council to address the appeal filed by Barcelona under which Dani Olmo and Pau Victor were registered under a precautionary ruling.

The appeal was accepted on 7th January, as the CSD ordered La Liga and RFEF to register both these players, after they had been deregistered by these bodies in accordance with their regulations.

The CSD believed an absence of such a precautionary ruling could end up having a drastic impact for Barcelona, the Spanish national team, and the two involved players themselves.

As Mundo Deportivo has noted, going forward, there are three possible scenarios in which this case turns out. Firstly, the CSD can ratify the precautionary ruling, which will allow the two players to remain registered till the end of the season. This also looks to be the most likely outcome, keeping in view the clubs’ arguments.

However, there is also the possibility of the Blaugranes’ appeal being expressly rejected, or the court says nothing on the matter, which will also end the precautionary registration. In both these cases, the involved players will be deregistered.

But Barcelona will have another way to keep the two players available even in one of these two scenarios, i.e., approaching the Administrative Litigation Court, where their chances of getting a ruling for the registration of these two players till the judge makes a final decision on the matter are quite high.
