Amid celebrations for a highly successful season, FC Barcelona have already set their sights on their main target for the upcoming transfer window.

The sporting department, led by director Deco, has identified the left-wing position as one that needs to be strengthened in the summer.

Luis Diaz top target again

According to reports relayed by Fichajes, Luis Diaz from Liverpool tops Deco’s wishlist as the club looks to strengthen the Barcelona frontline.

Barca’s current first-choice wingers are Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, both of whom have been in brilliant form this season and have played a key part in their successful campaign.

However, the belief within the club is that they lack the one-on-one threat needed to consistently break defences from the left flank.

“Suddenly, we feel very dependent on Raphinha, on Lamine. Maybe we need similar players, a solution for them,” Deco had said recently.

As such, the Barcelona sporting director has set his sights firmly on Diaz as his explosive style fits perfectly with the brand of football Hansi Flick’s team plays.

The Colombian international, who has consistently been linked with Barça in recent years, is seen as the ideal addition: a player with international experience, attacking aggression, and the ability to make an impact in big moments.

The deal will not be easy. Diaz is under contract with Liverpool until 2027 and has yet to respond to a renewal offer. The Reds are unlikely to be open to negotiations, especially following the confirmed departure of a key figure like Trent Alexander-Arnold.

A transfer fee of around €80 million might be required – an obstacle given Barcelona’s financial limitations.

Nico Williams, whom Barcelona missed out on last summer, is seen as an alternative but as things Diaz is considered the top target.
