FC Barcelona have been dealing with a lot of unnecessary injuries this season, and that trend seems to continue. Despite recovering most of their players, La Blaugrana had been waiting for the remaining ones to join in as well. Unfortunately, however, it seems that the list at Barcelona is only increasing now.

Even with Andreas Christensen having just returned, the squad just can not seem to remain healthy altogether at the same time. Now, ahead of an important clash in the UEFA Champions League with SL Benfica, yet another player has been sidelined.

As revealed and highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, 26-year-old Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo has become the latest player to be sidelined for Barcelona. After having just overcome his entire registration-related issues, this comes as a rather untimely blow for the club. Moreover, it could even be a blow to Hansi Flick if he was hoping to do something with the False 9 role that worked so well against Real Betis.

Reportedly, he faced some physical discomfort following the game against Getafe and that is the primary reason behind this new injury. With a right soleus strain, the player is now doubtful for the upcoming game against Benfica away from home over in the UEFA Champions League.

Unfortunately, Barcelona will thus have to rely on the services of their other players and will likely be without the help of Olmo for this game. Still, the Catalan giants have a team that is full of quality and will be eager to get a win after a rather disappointing performance against Getafe.

Currently second in the league table of the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona will want to get all three points here and challenge Liverpool for the top spot in hopes of a favorable draw. As for Benfica, the Portuguese side may be 15th in the UCL table but they will have the advantage of their home support behind them.
