FC Barcelona have been working to sort out exits in recent weeks. For the Catalan club, it is vitally important to free up salary space and generate some much-needed revenue. Beyond just returning to the 1:1 rule, Barcelona need to operate more freely in the market.

To deal with that and aid their own interests, the club is likely to delay any major signing for now and focus on exit operations first. As it stands, reports are suggesting that Barcelona already has some names in mind who will see their exit operations be given some level of urgency.

However, beyond just the urgent departures, there are others being looked at by the club as well. After all, reports have already highlighted the kind of incoming interest that is aimed towards certain players of the squad, so it would not hurt to test the waters some more.

Barcelona could look to part ways with Christensen

According to SPORT, however, there is another case in particular that Barcelona might just be willing to assess. That would be the case of Danish defender Andreas Christensen, who is reportedly a player that Barça would like to offload this summer.

Despite his professionalism and the devotion that he has shown to this team, there is an overbooking of defenders in the squad. With Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez already seen as nailed-on starters, and with Ronald Araujo’s departure being ruled out by the club, that leaves little room for 29-year-old Andreas Christensen to shine.

With a relatively high salary, Barcelona believe offloading him could prove to be beneficial. Moreover, he already missed most of last season due to recurring injuries and this is yet another reason that the club is considering to move him on.

Not exactly an urgent sale for now

On a sporting level, however, he continues to have the trust of Hansi Flick and his staff. They reportedly value his professionalism and quality, but everyone at the club is aware of the fact that the Danish defender might be at a disadvantage already due to his limited playing time last season and the expected lack of opportunities up ahead.

However, there is no specific kind of urgency when it comes to his departure. For now, there have been no talks or contact between Barcelona and the player’s camp, and he is expected to travel with the squad for the preseason tour unless something drastically changes.
