After a disastrous start to life at Barcelona, Vitor Roque made a brave decision to join Real Betis on a loan deal, in a desperate attempt to revive his career.
The Brazilian didn’t have the best of starts at Betis either. He faced initial challenges, notably missing some key opportunities.
However, the Barcelona loanee has since made a noticeable impact at Real Betis, following up with a series of impressive performances.
Roque has already racked up five goals in all competitions this season, matching Giovanni Lo Celso as Betis’ top scorer.
The duo has become a promising offensive force, serving a key role in Manuel Pellegrini’s attacking setup at Betis.

In 14 appearances across all competitions, Roque has netted three times in La Liga, and twice in the Copa del Rey. Pellegrini himself is pleasantly surprised with the Brazilian’s performances and views him as a vital player for the club.
After improving performances at Betis, Roque’s future remains a topic of interest, as Los Beticos hold a €25 million purchase option for 80% of his rights.
If exercised, it could give Barcelona a financial boost, potentially offsetting the initial €30 million investment made to Athletico Paranaense.
As far as Roque is concerned, the Barcelona loanee appears to have made peace with life in Betis. This was evident in the way he celebrated his recent goal against Celta Vigo.
Roque even threw shade at Xavi recently, pointing out how he wasn’t given enough opportunities.
Barcelona, for their part, are unlikely to stand in Roque’s way, should he look to seal a permanent transfer to Betis. It will, in fact, pave the way for the club to reduce their wage budget and make way for new signings in 2025.
