Vitor Roque was one of many Barcelona players who left the club on a loan deal elsewhere this past summer.

The Brazilian, who struggled in his maiden campaign at Barça, joined Real Betis to gain more game-time at the highest level.

Vitor Roque idolises Ronaldo

Roque has recently raised a few eyebrows with his statement on El Chiringuito, where he has admitted to idolising Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Brazilian has also expressed his appreciation for former Barcelona superstar Neymar.

“My idol is Cristiano Ronaldo. I also like Neymar,” he told El Chiringuito in a recent interaction.

It is quite unnatural for Barcelona players to idolise Ronaldo, especially given Lionel Messi’s legacy at Barcelona. However, it is not unnatural for Brazilian players to complement Ronaldo.

However, from a sporting sense, Vitor Roque idolising Ronaldo does make sense, as the forward favours the dynamism, speed and productivity that the Portuguese superstar is renowned for.

How is Roque faring at Real Betis?

After facing initial hiccups, Roque has fared quite well at Real Betis. He has integrated himself quite well into Manuel Pellegrini’s attacking setup.

Roque’s impressive performances at Real Betis bode well ever for FC Barcelona, who will be looking to offload the Brazilian permanently in the near future.

Real Betis have the option to buy the player back for €25 million, triggering which, could help Barcelona some of the investment they had made in the forward earlier this year.

With five goals in 14 competitive matches, the road ahead looks bright for Vitor Roque, as he looks to finally revive his career.
