According to a recent report from SPORT, Luis Diaz has emerged as Barcelona’s primary transfer target for the upcoming summer window.
The Colombian forward has reportedly been approved by new manager Hansi Flick, who sees him as a game-changing addition to his squad.
At 28, Diaz fits the exact footballing profile Barcelona are seeking, a pure left winger capable of also operating as a central forward when required.
The club views him as a player who can raise the squad’s attacking ceiling by offering something different to what Raphinha and others have provided this season.
The sporting management is convinced that under the financial framework of the 1:1 rule, a structure that allows the club to spend each euro it saves, the club is in a position to make a bold move this summer.
Thanks to this regulation, which was confirmed in January, there is increased optimism that Barcelona can afford a marquee signing like Diaz without violating La Liga’s strict financial controls.

All efforts will be concentrated on acquiring a left-sided winger, with Diaz considered the ideal profile due to his direct dribbling, ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations, and his knack for reaching the byline.
Importantly, his goal contributions, 17 goals and eight assists this season, add another dimension to his game, making him more than just a traditional winger.
The club sees him as a guaranteed starter who would immediately enhance the first XI and bring additional tactical options, especially with Flick’s preference for high-pressing and fast transitions. The Colombian’s aggressive style suits this approach perfectly.
The price tag is expected to be around €85 million, and while this is a significant investment, Barcelona seem willing to meet Liverpool’s valuation, albeit with patience and without rushing negotiations.
The Blaugrana are determined to make the signing happen, but will approach it strategically to avoid inflating the market or triggering a bidding war.
