FC Barcelona are keen about reinforcing their squad during the summer transfer window. The club certainly seems to have its eyes set on specific options, but there is much more work to be done. Unfortunately for Barcelona, however, their finances need to be sorted out simultaneously.

Just like in recent transfer windows, the Catalan giants cannot just go about and spend haphazardly. Instead, they need to be more calculated and collected in their approach, with certain exits not exactly being ruled out either to generate revenue.

One player whose future at the club now seems uncertain is Andreas Christensen, and the Danish defender could be offloaded in the summer according to MARCA. The reason behind this is that the club does not wish to lose him for free in 2026.

Originally signed in 2022 after his contract with Chelsea ran out, the Danish centre-back arrived as a free agent. That would mean that Barcelona could hypothetically earn a profit if they manage to offload the 28-year-old centre-back for a transfer fee.

Moreover, the club is aware that while he does have a contract in place until 2026, they simply do not wish to lose him for free when that deal eventually runs out. For that reason, Barcelona now want the player to play at least a few minutes in this final stretch of the season to improve his value as a transferable player, or other measures could end up being taken as well.

Unfortunately for Christensen, he has barely played at all this season. The Dane has only managed to play a total of 26 minutes this season, and has been injured and sidelined recurringly ever since the first game of the La Liga season.

Now, as he is set to return to action before the end of the campaign, Barcelona hope to reintegrate him back into the team. The only reason for that, as per this report, would be to make him a potential option for other teams to pursue during the transfer window.

Moreover, with the club reportedly being interested in signing Jonathan Tah as well, there are many options at centre-back already if he arrives. In that scenario, Christensen would not be needed at the club, even despite his undeniable professionalism and commitment.
