Some operations involving FC Barcelona often seem like pointless noise until they actually end up happening. Ultimately, most things are just hearsay until and unless the Catalan club ends up making a direct approach at one point or another.

With the winter transfer window now open, however, Barcelona could look to be more active than previously expected.

Beyond just the rumors that are suggesting that Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo could leave in January, there are certain reports linking Barcelona to another forward signing as soon as possible. However, it was previously disregarded as nothing but unnecessary noise.

This particular forward was none other than 27-year-old English winger Marcus Rashford. Moreover, according to SPORT, Barcelona themselves have now entered the race to sign the out-of-favor Manchester United winger for themselves as he looks likely to change his team for the remainder of the season.

Furthermore, Deco has already met up with the player’s agents as well as per the report. Initial direct contacts have already taken place this week and that could be a sign that this interest in the player is quite serious this time around it seems.

After having limited opportunities at the Premier League side in recent weeks, Rashford is reportedly thinking of joining a new side for the second half of the season. That is where Barcelona could potentially come in, but they need to sort out other things first.

As per the report, the Catalan giants need to free up some salary space. Unfortunately, the club has already dealt with issues due to this in the past and the recent registration dilemma was only the tip of the iceberg. However, if they manage to do what is needed, a loan deal could become a reality.

For now, the 27-year-old winger continues to fall down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim’s management. As for Barcelona, they are possibly already dealing with potential departures of their own, but returning to the 1:1 rule again surely eases their frustrations.
