Despite their financial difficulties, FC Barcelona are always looking to find options to improve their squad. Whether they arrive as free transfers or low-cost signings, the Catalan giants care more about the quality of the player rather than the method of acquisition. Moreover, player sales are also judged similarly by Barcelona.
There are some players who are simply considered to be untouchable and are too crucial to the sporting project. Such players tend to be retained by the club no matter the circumstances, and other players are the ones brought under the spotlight when transfer windows open up.
Even right now, several reports have attempted to suggest that the Catalan giants could end up letting some players leave in January 2025. Furthermore, certain reports suggested that Hansi Flick himself would be open to letting certain players leave the club during the winter window.
However, as per the latest update from Miguel Rico (h/t barcacentre), the current idea of the club is that it does not want to let any single player leave in the January transfer window. The reason behind this, as per the journalist, is that the club considers the squad to already be quite short.
Previously, players have been linked to winter exits but it seems now that the latest update goes against that understanding. However, it does make sense from a sporting perspective, as Hansi Flick would not like to have his current roster depleted for any reason.
Moreover, midway through a season, it would not necessarily be a good thing for any Barcelona player to try their luck elsewhere. For one, it would mean adapting to a new system where they have no guarantee of success. Secondly, it would mean giving up their possible window of getting chances at Barcelona once the season progresses into the later stages.
