La Liga table-toppers Barcelona have this week been afforded some altogether timely positive news on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that Ronald Araújo is set for an imminent return to group training.
Defender Araújo was for his part condemned to a long-term spell on the sidelines back in early-July.
This came owing to a serious hamstring injury, suffered whilst lining out for his native Uruguay during the latest edition of the Copa América.
The 25-year-old has remained on the sidelines ever since, sitting out Barcelona’s stellar opening to the campaign under new boss Hansi Flick.
With Andreas Christensen sidelined long-term, too, and Eric García struggling for fitness, it is safe to say that Araújo’s return would therefore come as a welcome one for Hansi Flick and his coaching staff.
And, if the latest comments on the part of Barca’s headmaster are anything to go by, then as much this week looks set to move a significant step closer.
Speaking in his latest pre-match press conference on Friday, Flick was asked for the latest on Araújo’s recovery efforts.
And the German went on to confirm that, all going according to plan, the stopper will link up with his teammates in group training once more on Sunday:
“He’s going to be back with us this week.”
