Barcelona forward Vitor Roque is finally set to join Palmeiras, bringing an early end to his loan spell at Real Betis.
Journalist Gerard Romero has confirmed that the Brazilian club has secured his signature, with Barcelona receiving a guaranteed €25.5 million, along with an additional €5 million in potential add-ons.
The possibility of Roque returning to Brazil had been in discussion since the beginning of the month. However, complications arose because he was still officially on loan at Betis.
This made the transfer challenging to finalise, as Barcelona needed approval from multiple parties to proceed.
Once Barcelona received clearance from Betis, they encountered another hurdle. La Liga, along with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), raised legal concerns about the move.

According to their regulations, Barcelona could not sell the player directly while the transfer window was closed. The club was required to re-register him, even if temporarily before they could officially complete the sale.
Faced with these complications, Barcelona sought assistance from FIFA and UEFA to push the deal through. After FIFA granted approval, the club swiftly proceeded with the necessary paperwork to finalise Roque’s departure to Palmeiras.
On the other hand, Palmeiras were also actively working to ensure the transfer went through. The Brazilian side reached out to La Liga to understand the regulatory challenges and applied pressure on the league to approve the deal.
Their persistence ultimately paid off, allowing them to secure Roque’s services and ensuring Barcelona received a significant financial boost of at least €25.5 million.
With the move now completed, Roque will look forward to a fresh start in Brazil, while Barcelona benefit from the funds generated through the transfer.
This deal marks the end of a complicated saga that required negotiations at multiple levels but ultimately resulted in a successful outcome for all parties involved.
