Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, born in Foios, has posted an emotional message of support to his fellow citizens of the Valencian Community following the torrential rains that have claimed nearly a hundred lives and left dozens missing.
The 24-year-old attacker addressed them all in a video from Barcelona, where he is recovering from a muscle injury to the biceps femoris of his right thigh suffered in the first week of October.
“My heart breaks seeing my people and my homeland, Valencia, devastated by the floods. I know it’s no consolation, but I want to send all my encouragement and support to the victims and their families from here. Stay strong, Valencia!” said Ferran, completely shaken by the nightmarish images of the DANA (severe weather event) coming from his homeland.
FC Barcelona, like many other Spanish clubs, have shown solidarity with the drama unfolding primarily in Valencia, as well as in Albacete and Andalusia, through an official statement.
“From FC Barcelona, we want to express our condolences to the victims’ families and our solidarity with the affected regions of Valencia and areas of Albacete and Andalusia due to the episode of torrential rains,” the official statement from the club read.
The Blaugrana also observed a minute of silence during Wednesday morning’s training session at the Ciutat Esportiva.
