An up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has been tipped to carve out minutes for himself at senior level this coming season.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Jofre Torrents as the player in question.

Youngster Torrents is for his part fresh off spending pre-season plying his trade with Hansi Flick’s star-studded Barcelona squad.

Despite being just 18, the left-back was afforded the chance to showcase his talents in several of the Blaugrana’s pre-season fixtures.

And Torrents went on to take full advantage of this opportunity…

Looking not at all out of place along Barca’s left flank, the defender showcased precisely why he has long been tipped as a potential star in the making in Catalunya’s capital.

Such efforts culminated in Torrents being afforded a place in Hansi Flick’s matchday squad for the club’s opening day La Liga fixture against RCD Mallorca, before featuring off the bench during the 2nd-half.

And as per a report from Sport, it will likely not be long before the youngster is making his mark on an altogether consistent basis at senior level:

‘Neither Deco nor Hansi Flick are contemplating getting rid of Jofre Torrents under any circumstances. Both are convinced that the season is very long and that sooner or later opportunities will arise for Jofre to be a real alternative to Balde and Gerard Martín.’
