Barcelona are worried about Lamine Yamal’s recovery as the player is set to miss tonight’s clash after failing to recover from the contusion he suffered over two weeks ago.
The club are hopeful that the player will be back midweek against Brest, although there is not much clarity over the optimism they have on that front.
As revealed by Miguel Rico in a recent update, however, that is not the only worry the Catalans have over Yamal with the spotlight on him also being a massive issue they wish to avoid.
The Spanish journalist furthers that the club are worried about Yamal constantly being placed in the spotlight, burdened with high expectations and even unnecessarily compared to club legends early on in his career.
They believe this is the time for the player to stay away from distractions and limelight, and thus aim to guard him from the noise.

Yamal will thus participate less in public events here on, and will also feature less in commercials. There will be stringent regulations over his exposure.
Instead, the club will try and push his teammates with him in any public appearances to reduce the pressure on him and thus avoid placing the spotlight on him alone.
The primary goal of the team’s revised plan of action is to reduce the stress on the player and protect him from too much exposure at a young age. After all, any distraction at this point can prove costly in the long run.
So far this season, Yamal has managed to keep the quality of his games high despite the pressure mounting on him. With the most important part of the season yet to come, the club will hope he can keep the maturity going.
