Barcelona defender open to departure amid interest from Newcastle United | OneFootball

Barcelona are expected to be incredibly busy over the final 10 days of the summer transfer window, particularly in regards to outgoings. Ilkay Gundogan is set to join Manchester City on a free transfer, while Vitor Roque will soon head to Real Betis on a season-long loan deal. Mikayil Faye is another set to leave soon, and fellow centre-back Andreas Christensen could also be on his way out too.

Christensen has been touted as a possible departee as it’s expected that his playing time will be reduced this season. The 28-year-old was a key player for Xavi Hernandez, but Hansi Flick does not appear to see him as well.

According to MD, Christensen is open to leaving Barcelona before the transfer window closes. In recent days, he’s been linked with Newcastle United, and a return to the Premier League could very much be on the agenda.

Gundogan’s departure came out of nothing, and Christensen could follow in this regard. It’s probable that Barcelona would entertain offers for the Dane, as they desperately try to reduce their wage bill.
