Barcelona could cool interest in 16-year-old wonderkid if Roony Bardghji arrives – report | OneFootball

Barcelona are on the lookout for promising young talents across Europe so as to try and sign them before other major clubs.

This strategy has seen them show significant interest in a move for Dinamo Zagreb’s Portuguese wonderkid Cardoso Varela.

The 16-year-old winger has been on the Blaugrana’s radar for quite a while now and there has been talk about a possible move, especially given the club’s close ties with his agent, Andy Bara.

Barcelona could decide against Varela move for now

However, according to Carlos Monfort of SPORT, if Barcelona are successful in their pursuit of Roony Bardghji, the chances of signing Cardoso Varela would decrease significantly.

As has already been reported, the Blaugrana are closing in on a move for Bardghji, having reached an agreement over a €2.5 million deal with his club FC Copenhagen.

Should the deal go through as expected, it could see Barça cool their interest in Varela, at least for now as the club’s financial situation does not allow for two investments of this type.

The La Liga champions have been tracking Varela since December. The skilled winger even visited Barcelona to meet Deco and tour the facilities before he signed for Dinamo during the winter.

There were talks of a move happening this summer itself, but the 16-year-old prospect signed a new contract with Dinamo recently, committing to the Croatian outfit until 2028.

That, coupled with Barcelona’s pursuit of Bardghji, could see Varela’s signing get taken off the table, although the player has not been informed of any such development by the Catalans thus far.
