While the transfer window in Spain is completely closed for the winter, the Brazilian league still has the window of opportunity open until the end of the month.

With just over a week to go before the opportunity moves past them in Brazil, Palmeiras have suddenly woken up as candidates to sign Barcelona’s Vitor Roque immediately.

Considering that the striker is already on loan at Real Betis for this season, there is a small hurdle to cross before the deal can be finalised. The Catalans, however, are open to ensuring his sale goes through regardless of the obstacles.

Communication passed to Seville

As relayed in a recent update by SPORT, Barcelona have already contacted Los Verdiblancos’ board that Palmeiras are preparing an offer and that it could significantly alter the course of the player’s season.

The club have an understanding with Barcelona and Roque’s entourage about making a move possible before February 28th. However, the final terms to be discussed are arguably the most important.

The report furthers that Barcelona will only accept Roque’s immediate move to Brazil if the operation holds enough gain so as to not affect their financial statement at the end of the season.

To ensure that Roque’s saga at the club does not get recorded as a loss, Barcelona expect a minimum of €25 million from Palmeiras in addition to 20% of the player’s rights.

As it stands, Real Betis have the striker’s services with the option to purchase the same 80% of his rights at the end of the season.

Barcelona’s decision over giving the green light to move to South America, thus, depends on how far the Brazilians are willing to go.

So far this season, the 19-year-old has scored just four goals in 21 appearances for Real Betis despite averaging close to an hour per game and it is clear that he has not hit the ground running.

If the player’s loan move at Betis is going to be cut short by a transfer to Brazil, Barcelona and the Seville-based club will look to reach some kind of compensatory agreement.
