The ongoing renovations at the Spotify Camp Nou have created challenges for FC Barcelona, with the club facing a tight schedule to ensure their return. For now, the priority remains obtaining the necessary approvals to welcome fans back to the stadium.
Members of the Barcelona City Council are expected to visit the site today to inspect the renovations and confirm that all requirements for the first occupancy license have been met.

The pressure is particularly high due to UEFA’s timeline. By the Champions League group stage draw on August 28, Barcelona must inform UEFA which stadium they will use at the start of the competition, continuing until mid-February when the knockout rounds begin.
UEFA also requires the Lateral Stand to be open for broadcasting, but in the initial phase, only the Main Stand and South Goal are ready.
To navigate this, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barça is exploring a dual-stadium approach: hosting La Liga matches at the Camp Nou while playing Champions League fixtures at the Montjuïc Stadium.
The club has permission to use Montjuïc until February of next year, providing a viable temporary solution if reopening delays persist.
While playing across two stadiums would pose logistical challenges, it remains a fallback option. The club’s main goal continues to be the return to the Camp Nou for their first La Liga home game against Valencia in mid-September.
With inspections and final approvals pending, the coming days will be decisive in determining whether Barcelona can reopen their iconic stadium in time for the new season.
