According to a report from RAC1, Barcelona are confident they can activate Nico Williams’ release clause as part of their summer plans.

The club believes it has the financial means to get the deal done, with internal sources stating that the issue is not about cash flow but rather about managing credit lines and interest rates.

In short, finances will not be a barrier to signing the Athletic Club winger.

Barcelona and Nico have already reached a personal agreement. If all goes well, the 22-year-old is expected to sign a six-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2031.

However, while the agreement with the player is in place, the club is now working behind the scenes to ensure the financial side of the operation is clear and, most importantly, that he can be registered once the deal is finalised.

Nico’s release clause officially stands at €58 million, but once the IPC (consumer price index) is factored in, the figure rises to approximately €62 million.

Since Athletic Club have made it clear they will not enter negotiations, Barcelona will need to pay this full amount if they want to secure the winger’s services.

Despite recent financial challenges, sources within Barcelona’s financial department insist the club has a budget of around €1 billion and can structure the payment through credit mechanisms.

They argue that it is not a matter of liquidity but about finding the right financial formula with reasonable interest rates. In any case, they stress this won’t block the deal.

The focus now is on making sure every financial detail is sorted and that La Liga will allow the player to be registered. But the message from within the club is clear that Barcelona are ready to go all in to bring Nico to Camp Nou.
