Barring any surprises, Barcelona will not make any signings during the upcoming winter transfer window, although they could be adding to Hansi Flick’s coaching staff.

During the summer, former midfielder Thiago Alcantara – who was fresh off of retiring after leaving Liverpool – returned to Barcelona on a temporary basis to aid Hansi Flick in his first few weeks at the Catalan giants. He left a very good impression, and as such, there has been clamour to ensure that he comes back in 2025.

According to Marca, Thiago’s potential return to Barcelona is seen as “close”. If he does re-join Flick’s coaching staff, he would be in a different role to before as Arnau Blanco, who was his successor at the start of the season, will be continuing in the first team fold.

Barcelona need some inspiration after a tough few weeks in La Liga, and Thiago could end up being the man to spark that – if indeed he does return to the Estadi Olimpic in January.
