After a convincing 4-0 victory against Barbastro in the Copa del Rey, Barcelona showed their dominance on the pitch once again.
The match marked the return of Ronald Araujo, who played his first game since suffering an injury during the summer while representing Uruguay.
Araujo, now fully fit, also addressed a pressing issue involving Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, making him the first player to openly discuss the matter. His role as captain added weight to his statements.
Araujo acknowledged the unease among his teammates regarding the situation but expressed hope for a resolution.
“It’s a subject that our teammates are not happy about, but we hope it can be resolved,” he began saying.
He explained that as captain, his role has been to calm the squad and help maintain focus. He underlined the importance of Olmo and Victor, describing them as vital to the team.
“As captain, I have tried to reassure them. We are a little worried because they are two very important players for us.”

Reflecting on the match itself, Araujo pointed out how challenging the game could have been, especially on an unfamiliar pitch.
However, he praised the team’s focus and determination, which allowed them to dominate from start to finish. Despite the win, he avoided sounding overconfident, focusing instead on the team’s hard work and preparation.
“We are happy with this victory. It was a difficult pitch, one of those that is difficult, but we were very focused,” he explained.
On a personal note, Araujo expressed his happiness at returning to action and completing the full 90 minutes. “I didn’t expect it. I’m happy to be back after a long time.”
After such a long time away, his return was significant not only for him but also for the team’s defensive stability.
As captain, he reaffirmed his commitment to leading the team and adapting to the ideas of manager Hansi Flick, who is working to instil his style of play at the club.
“I don’t have to prove anything. I’m the captain of Barça. We knew that this break would be good for us to recover and work well.”

Finally, he praised the debut of 16-year-old Toni Fernandez, who showcased his immense potential on the field.
Araujo applauded the talent nurtured at La Masia, emphasising how these young players step up fearlessly when given a chance.
“It’s incredible, they have tremendous quality. It’s incredible what the people at La Masia do, when they come up they are not afraid, they continue to face things as if nothing happened,” he concluded.
