In a revealing update, journalist Laia Tudel has sensationally claimed that Barcelona captain and superstar Marc-Andre ter Stegen complained to the club hierarchy about manager Xavi Hernandez.

The incident is said to have occurred back in December after Barça fell to a defeat to Girona at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

Ter Stegen complained Barcelona players felt targeted by Xavi

Now, as per the update from the journalist, following the 4-2 defeat against Michel’s men in December, Ter Stegen held a meeting with the higher-ups at Barcelona.

The club president Joan Laporta was present, along with vice-president Rafa Yuste, sporting director Deco, and Alejandro Echevarria.

During the meeting, it is claimed that Ter Stegen expressed concerns that the dressing room had regarding the direction in which the team was heading this season.

The German goalkeeper, who is the second captain of the team, also aired dissatisfaction over the performances of the team.

On top of that, he also conveyed to the hierarchy that several players in the locker room felt targeted by Xavi, especially after the team tasted defeat.

Laporta influenced

Laia Tudel’s update then states that Ter Stegen’s words and complaints have influenced Laporta, who has now decided to part ways with Xavi.

Even though the Barcelona president publicly backed the club legend in a joint press conference last month, his confidence appears to have now dissipated and Xavi now appears to be on his way out.

*-As things stand, Hansi Flick is being touted as the likeliest to replace Xavi once the season is over.
