According to Sport Bild, Leipzig is eager to secure a permanent deal for Simons as early as January. While the player, under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2027, has shown little enthusiasm for returning to Paris, Leipzig faces a significant hurdle: PSG’s €80 million asking price, which may be out of reach for the German side.

Sport Bild (h/t Foot01) has provided an update on the Simons file, revealing that Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and Oliver Mintzlaff have engaged in positive discussions about the Dutch midfielder’s future.

Simons, who has spent the past two seasons on loan at RB Leipzig, is facing complications due to Bundesliga rules that prohibit a third loan, as it would be classified as a disguised transfer.

Despite RB Leipzig’s inconsistent form this season, Simons, currently recovering from injury, is eager to remain in Germany.

PSG are open to offers for Simons, and talks between the two clubs have already begun. While Al-Khelaïfi initially valued the player at €80 million, Leipzig has reportedly proposed a €50 million deal, including a resale percentage for PSG.

This approach could suit all parties, as PSG would retain a financial interest in Simons’ future while the player continues his career in the Bundesliga, a destination he hopes to call home for years to come.
