After a brief holiday break, Barcelona are all set to resume their campaign this weekend as they take on Barbastro in the Copa Del Rey on January 4.

This will mark the Round of 32 of the Copa Del Rey, with Barcelona slated to face Athletic Club in the Supercopa Espana in the middle of next week.

So needless to say, coach Hansi Flick will likely rest a few of his key players, as he keeps one eye on the Spanish Supercup semi-final in Saudi Arabia.

Therefore, a host of less prominent first-team players could feature against Barbastro, with Frenkie de Jong and Ansu Fati likely being among them.

Similarly, there could be chances for several youth players, who are looking to make a mark in the first-team.

It appears coach Flick is ready to hand Rodriguez a glorious opportunity this weekend, especially following his impressive performances at the youth level.

Indeed, Rodriguez is regarded as one of the most talented faces at La Masia. He was even cited as one of the options when the news of Lamine Yamal’s injury first came out.

In fact, Barça have even reportedly considered abandoning their pursuit of top target Nico Williams because of Dani Rodriguez, who has shown that he is ready to take his game to the next level.
