Spanish news outlet Fichajes has reported that Atletico Madrid are interested in the Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz and want to sign him in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Reds will literally charge €60-70 million if they need to sell him in the summer.
Diaz is a wonderful player, but he has not been consistent this season for the Reds. Diaz has scored 9 goals in 27 matches so far in the Premier League 2024/2025 season. Overall, Diaz’s goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.46. Moreover, his total G/A (goals + assists) is 12 for this season. His goal involvement equates to 0.61 per 90 minutes. The forward’s non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.46. This puts Luis Diaz’s npxG output at 8.69.
Looking into his passing aspect of the game, Diaz passes the ball roughly 29.57 times during a game with a pass completion rate of 85.35%. He also plays 1.50 key passes each game. Overall, Diaz Marulanda’s xA (expected assists) output is 0.17 per 90 minutes.
Atletico Madrid are playing attacking football under Diego Simeone this season and want more offensive reinforcements next season to compete with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid for the La Liga title. South American players in general prefer playing in the Spanish League, and Diaz has literally proven his class in the Premier League.

He dominates the left flank, using blistering pace and agile dribbling to dismantle defences. His directness shines as he drives at opponents, often cutting inside to unleash powerful shots with either foot. Díaz excels in pressing, relentlessly harrying defenders to regain possession. His work rate bolsters both attack and defence, while his flair adds unpredictability, using his stepovers and quick turns. Technically, he delivers precise crosses and finishes clinically in the box. Though decision-making occasionally wavers, his intensity and skill make him a constant threat.
However, if they get €60-70 million for him, they should definitely look to sell him given that Mohamed Salah might also leave for free in the summer. So, they could definitely use the amount to buy proper reinforcements in the attacking department. Only the summer transfer window will reveal whether the Reds let Diaz leave Anfield.
