Athletic Club eyeing summer deal for Spanish international | OneFootball

The board at La Liga outfit Athletic Club have set their sights on a reunion with a former member of the club’s defensive ranks this summer.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Aymeric Laporte as the player in question.

Stopper Laporte is for his part currently plying his trade in Saudi Arabia, with Al-Nassr.

The months ahead, though, could see the Spanish international depart, amid mutual interest on the part of clubs and player alike in a return to Europe.

And as alluded to above, amongst a host of sides from across the continent keen on Laporte’s signature are Ernesto Valverde’s Athletic Club.

As per a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements at centre-back with a view to next season:

‘Athletic Club and more European sides are keen on signing Aymeric Laporte this summer.’

Laporte for his part spent eight years plying his trade in the Basque Country, before departing for Manchester City in 2018.
