Atalanta have shared footage of their stadium renovations prior to kick-off in their Serie A match against Fiorentina on Sunday afternoon.
The Gewiss Stadium has undergone major redevelopment work to increase the ground’s overall capacity, as well as improving general facilities and safety standards.
The works began in 2019, but faced delays in the years afterwards due to complications surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and the fact that Atalanta still had to play their games at home during the season.
The Curva Nord was the first section of the ground to be upgraded. The Renaissance Tribune (Tribune Rinascimento) followed, and the most recent modifications were to the Curva Sud, which usually hosts travelling supporters.
La Dea have not been able to play at home yet this season while the final touches were put in place. With special dispensation from the league, all of the club’s first three Serie A matches were played away from home.
Fiorentina will be the first visitors to the newly refurbished Curva Sud on Sunday afternoon.
