Aston Villa sign Barcelona keeper Roebuck | OneFootball

Aston Villa have completed the impressive signing of FC Barcelona goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck.

The Villans announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

The 25-year-old stopper returns to the English game after spending one season with the Spanish giants. Roebuck and Barcelona agreed to a mutual termination of her contract to allow her to move to Aston Villa.

Roebuck made her name at Manchester City where she spent eight years playing in the first team. The player turned out for The Cityzens on close to 150 occasions and played a big part in the club’s successes both domestically and in Europe competition. Roebuck won one league title, three Adobe Women’s FA Cups and three Subway Women’s League Cups with Manchester City.

On the international stage, the player has been capped by England on 11 occasions.

After adding Roebuck to the Aston Villa squad, the club’s Director of Women’s Football, Marisa Ewers said “We are delighted that Ellie will be joining our club.

“She is an exciting addition to the team and is a player with a lot of experience who can help drive our performance levels.”

Roebuck is Aston Villa’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
