Aston Villa open talks to sign Lille’s Lucas Chevalier | OneFootball

Emiliano Martínez (32) is expected to leave Aston Villa this summer. The club have already lined up his replacement, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

Martínez, in contact with multiple clubs, including Barcelona, has informed Aston Villa that he will leave the club this summer. Lille OSC’s Lucas Chevalier (23) has emerged as the favourite to succeed the Argentine goalkeeper, according to Tavolieri. The Frenchman, who last season broke into the France set-up for the first time, has emerged as the priority target heading into the transfer window.

The club’s sporting director, Monchi, is already in talks with Chevalier’s entourage regarding a transfer this summer. There have been talks regarding the goalkeeper’s salary demands, although a formal offer has yet to be submitted. The player in question, however, is open to a move to Villa Park.

As he stated publicly at the UNFP Awards earlier this month, he is tempted by a move to the Premier League. As per Tavolieri, €40m may suffice to convince Lille to release the goalkeeper, whose contract runs until 2027.
