Marco Asensio appears to have little future at PSG after the club sent him on loan to Aston Villa during the winter transfer window. Despite a productive spell in the Premier League, Aston Villa opted not to make the move permanent — at least for now.

The 29-year-old Spain international scored eight goals and added one assist in 21 appearances for the English side. He is still under contract with PSG through June 2026.

Earlier this month, L’Équipe reported that the former Real Madrid player frequently displayed his technical skills while at Birmingham.

The report also says Unai Emery is eager to keep the midfielder on loan. Fenerbahçe remains a potential destination, but no financial deal has been finalized. Moreover, the French media outlet reveals that Asensio is unwilling to take a significant pay cut.

With the summer transfer window winding down, Telegraph Football reports that Aston Villa hope to re-sign Asensio from PSG following his successful loan spell last season.

According to a previous report from L’Équipe, Asensio initially turned down a €15 million move to Fenerbahçe, even though PSG had accepted the offer, which included performance-related bonuses.

However, Asensio isn’t interested in playing in the Turkish Süper Lig. He is instead waiting to explore all of his options on the market, leaving open the possibility of a return to the Premier League side.
