The future of Rodrygo remains a question mark at Real Madrid as we enter the final week of the summer transfer window.

The Brazilian international has been linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu throughout the summer amid fears of a reduced role under Xabi Alonso.

A host of Premier League clubs have been mainly linked with a move for Rodrygo, including the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, who had recently proposed a loan deal.

However, Arsenal were another English club who were interested in acquiring the services of Rodrygo.

According to ESPN, Arsenal were keen on signing Rodrygo earlier in the summer. They had considered the Brazilian an ideal option in their bid to reinforce the attacking unit.

However, the Gunners could not make a move due to Real Madrid’s high demands for the player, which is hardly surprising.

Real Madrid, after all, have adopted a strict policy against players leaving the club this summer. While a player is always allowed to leave, he must bring in an attractive offer.

Real Madrid, to that end, have been holding out for at least €90 million for the services of the Brazilian international, while his wage demands are also understood to have been steep.

Arsenal were not in a position to shell out such a figure for Rodrygo, as the club were already working on moves for top targets such as Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres.

The Gunners ended up signing Noni Madueke in a €56 million move from Chelsea and are now set to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.
