Arsenal vs Newcastle team news

Arsenal will be without multiple first team players, with Bukayo Saka, Raheem Sterling, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White all remaining out through injury.

They will also be without Ethan Nwaneri who was taken off at half time against Brighton after scoring, with an injury now set to keep him out for several weeks.

Kai Havertz could boost Mikel Arteta’s attacking options slightly after missing the Brighton game through illness, but he is still a doubt for the Newcastle game on Tuesday.

Newcastle will remain without Nick Pope, Jamall Lascelles, Emil Krafth and Callum Wilson who are absent due to injuries.

Bruno Guimaraes and Fabian Schar will also miss the Arsenal clash due to suspension, which could see the likes of Lloyd Kelly and Sean Longstaff given chances to start.

Sven Botman was a welcome sight against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend in their 2-1 victory. But after going off with some discomfort at the end of the game, it is unlikely Botman will be risked just days later.

Who will be Arsenal’s attacking threat?

With Bukayo Saka out for the next few months, followed by an injury to Ethan Nwaneri who had proven to be an adept solution for Arteta in the absence of his key man, Arsenal will now be looking for yet another solution on the right.

Nwaneri had offered the Gunners a new dynamic, with Jurrien Timber providing the width at times from right back, allowing the 17-year-old to drift inside and combine in the half spaces, providing a new dynamic on the right with rotations on the ball.

With Sterling also out, it is likely Arteta will have to play one of his more natural left wingers on the right (e.g. Martinelli or Trossard). Another option could be to shift Jesus over to the right, playing a similar role to the one Nwaneri was, and deploying Havertz back through the middle.

Saka has played 24 games so far this season, scoring nine goals and providing 13 assists already, showing just how important he is to Arsenal’s attacking and providing output.

In recent weeks, Gabriel Jesus has stepped up scoring six goals in his last five games, but this will need to be sustained if Arteta’s side are to continue competing on all fronts, as they await their injured players returns.
