Gunners responded well to setback of red card to grind out narrow win
Riccardo Calafiori scored the only goal of the game, which both sides finished with 10 men after having a player each sent off.
Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly was shown a straight red card just before half-time, while Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes was given a second yellow card with 20 minutes to go.
The Gunners scored the winning goal shortly after that, with substitute Calafiori finding the net with a great finish.

Produced big saves when it mattered, one to keep out Matheus Cunha’s deflected strike and another to deny Rayan Ait-Nouri.
Jurrien Timber 7
A solid performance from the right-back, who got forward to support Martinelli whenever he could.
Back in the team after missing the last two games due to a hamstring injury. Showed why Arsenal have missed him with a dominant display.
Gabriel 8
Like Saliba, the Brazilian was a rock at the back. Gave Wolves’ attackers very little to feed off all game.
Myles Lewis-Skelly 5
Shown a red card just before half-time after bringing down Matt Doherty. Felt very harsh on the 18-year-old, who will now miss the Manchester City game next week.

Taken off at the break after Arsenal went down to 10 men. A shame as we was having a good game in the absence of Martin Odegaard.
Thomas Partey 7
Steady performance at the base of midfield from the Ghana international. Managed to control the game, even when Arsenal went down to 10 men.
Must have got through more ground than any other player and dragged Arsenal forward when down to 10 men. Back to his best after a quiet Christmas period.
Gabriel Martinelli 7
Never stopped going at his opposite man and was rewarded when his half-cleared cross was fired home by Calafiori.
Kai Havertz 6
Missed three decent chances with his head and should, really, have scored one of them. Worked tirelessly up top, though, and gave Arsenal an outlet.
Leandro Trossard 7
Created two good chances for Havertz in the first-half with crosses in from the left. Deserved more for his output.

Off the bench and was Arsenal’s hero with a brilliant finish. What a moment for the Italian.
