Arsenal move near? Sporting close in on Gyokeres replacement | OneFootball

Sporting Lisbon have increased their efforts to sign Almeria forward Luis Suarez as the club target a replacement for Viktor Gyokeres.

Gyokeres is nearing a move to Arsenal with a fee agreed for the Swedish striker’s transfer to the Premier League. Negotiations are ongoing over the structure of the deal, but there is an expectation that a full agreement will be reached.

Sporting face a huge task to replace Gyokeres, who has scored 97 goals in 102 games for the club over the last two seasons.

He has ended each of the last two campaigns as the Primeira Liga’s leading scorer in successive title triumphs for Sporting.

Almeria forward Suarez has been identified as the club’s top target to replace Gyokeres. The 27-year-old scored 31 goals in 41 games for the Spanish side last season, as Almeria narrowly missed out on promotion to La Liga.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that efforts to sign Suarez have ‘accelerated’, which could pave the path for Gyokeres’ move to Arsenal.
