Manchester United target Hugo Ekitike is now being pursued by Premier League rivals Arsenal.
The Red Devils have been linked to numerous strikers this window such as Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres and Ollie Watkins.
Another player they are also reportedly interested in is Eintracht Frankfurt striker Ekitike.
It is said that he is a fallback option for the Red Devils should they fail in their pursuit of number one target Gyokeres.
Moreover, there has been confusion over his price tag as some reports claim he would cost around £85 million while others state that he may cost significantly less at £63 million.
Nonetheless, United’s pursuit of the young striker could be about to get even more complicated as Premier League rivals Arsenal are also said to be joining the race.
BILD (via The Sun) report that, “Arsenal are considering a move for French forward Hugo Ekitike.”
He is “now being seriously considered by Gunners chiefs, amid transfer links with Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.”
The German outlet does not give good news on his price however, as they state, “the Eintracht Frankfurt star – likened to Thierry Henry – will cost in the region of £85 million.”
Arsenal and United seem destined to be in an eternal tug of war this summer over different striker options.
Both clubs are going head-to-head over Gyokeres as he has vowed to never play for Sporting CP again in an effort to push for a transfer away from Portugal.
The two clubs are also said to be keen on Red Bull Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko as a potential summer recruit.
What is clear is that with July just around the corner and teams preparing to start their pre-season training, fans of both sides will want some clarity on who they are pursuing at the striker position this summer.
