Germany’s men’s national team director Rudi Voller has confirmed that Kai Havertz will miss his nation’s games against Slovakia and Northern Ireland next month.
The 26-year-old has suffered a knee injury, which Arsenal are currently assessing to determine how long he is likely to be sidelined for.
It is possible that surgery could be required, and Voller says he certainly will not play a part for Germany next month.
“He certainly won’t make it [for next week]; he has a knee injury,” Voller said.
“We don’t know exactly how things will unfold in the next few weeks. Whether surgery will be necessary or whether it will be treated conservatively.”
Arsenal were dealt further injury blows following the news that Havertz was set for a spell on the sidelines.
Both Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka were forced off in the 5-0 win over Leeds United on Saturday, but Arsenal hope the injuries are not as bad as first feared.
Odegaard landed awkwardly on his shoulder and is currently being assessed, though has been called up to the Norway squad to face Finland and Moldova next month.
Saka, meanwhile, could miss around a month after suffering a hamstring issue, Hayters understands.
