Viktor Gyokeres has had a busy couple of days since Arsenal and Sporting CP finally reached a full agreement for his summer transfer.
The striker had to fly to London on Friday, attending London Colney and then returning again for his medical on Saturday, before heading straight off to Singapore for the Gunners’ pre-season tour.
Arsenal managed to get the announcement done quickly on Saturday night, so there’s no need to hide the transfer anymore. But with the deal happening so late, there’s also no chance that Gyokeres will be playing in Sunday’s game against Newcastle.

Even so, the club have confirmed that the Sweden international will be in attendance for Sunday’s match, watching on from the stands at the Singapore National Stadium.
With any luck, Gyokeres’ new teammates will put on a show for the new signing, before he joins them on the trip to Hong Kong and takes part in his first training sessions.
Ideally, the 27-year-old will then be ready for an unofficial debut against Tottenham Hotspur next Thursday.

Gyokeres scored 54 goals in 52 games for Sporting CP last season, adding a further nine goals in his six matches for Sweden. The centre-forward also provided plenty of assists in those games, racking up 13 for Sporting and four for Sweden.
With a contract until 2030 keeping him at the club throughout his peak years, Gyokeres will just want to get going with Arsenal now.
