Liverpool have been dealt a setback with Jeremie Frimpong confirmed to be sidelined until after the international break, though Conor Bradley has made a welcome return to first-team training.
Jeremie Frimpong’s start to life at Anfield had been gathering momentum, his pace and directness offering a new attacking outlet down the right. But that rhythm has been checked. The wing-back was forced off after an hour in Liverpool’s Premier League victory over AFC Bournemouth last Friday, a hamstring complaint cutting short his contribution.
Head coach Arne Slot was quick to underline the decision taken by the medical staff. “The medical team was completely right about Jeremie to tell me they had to take him off, because he is out until the end of the international break and that happened in the game,” Slot explained.
The summer signing will now miss two high-profile fixtures: Newcastle United away and Arsenal at Anfield. For a player tipped to become central to Slot’s tactical evolution, the timing is far from ideal.
Slot reiterated that the withdrawal was precautionary, protecting Frimpong from a more serious lay-off. “I already said immediately after the game that it had nothing to do with how he played, but we felt he had an issue with his hamstring. And with ‘we’ I don’t mean me, but the medical staff. And they were completely right. So, a good call to take him off, otherwise he would have maybe been out for longer,” he said.
That intervention means Liverpool expect to have Frimpong back immediately after the international break, a timeline that will ease some of the concerns around squad depth.
There was brighter news, though, with Conor Bradley rejoining training sessions after missing the Community Shield and the opening Premier League fixture. “Conor trained for a few minutes with us today for the first time,” Slot confirmed.

Bradley’s availability offers much-needed cover during Frimpong’s absence, ensuring Liverpool are not left exposed in a demanding stretch of fixtures. His energy and defensive reliability could prove important as Slot looks to navigate early-season tests.
Frimpong’s absence is undoubtedly a blow for Liverpool, but the structured management of his recovery reflects a long-term vision. Slot has been consistent in prioritising player welfare, and the Dutchman will hope that caution now pays off with a stronger, sharper Frimpong returning after the break.
Liverpool’s supporters, meanwhile, will be eager to see their dynamic new signing back on the pitch, ready to inject his trademark pace and attacking verve into the side’s campaign.
