Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez looked to be back at something like his best in yesterday’s Serie A draw against Bologna.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

There is no hiding it. Over the first half of this season, Inter captain Martinez wasn’t up to his own standard.

The Argentine looked off the pace at the start of the campaign. This seemed to be the consequence of a lack of a proper preseason to get up to fitness.

Then, in the last few months, Martinez had lost his scoring touch. The 27-year-old went through a goal drought that lasted nearly two months in an Inter shirt.

That was less to do with a lack of sharpness and dynamism, and more the result of missing some very presentable chances.

But yesterday against Bologna, Martinez looked like the player who has been Inter’s talisman in attack for several years now.

The Argentine took his goal very well. His confidence and ruthlessness have returned based on the way that he finished off a flowing counterattack.

But beyond that, Martinez was also the orchestrator in attack for Inter.

The Argentine could have had an assist or two in the first half. He showed all his quality with some excellent touches, passes, and flicks.
