Kamaldeen Sulemana mirrored Archer's individualistic claim by mentioning that until some time under Russell Martin, he wanted Southampton to play poorly to get more playing time.
Tell me, which Southampton department do you think you've had enough of this 2024/25 season? For me, it will be the Saints' attack force any day and every day.
No, don't get me wrong. It's not like the club's other departments have been way better, still at least they don't pull down the unit's spirit. Let alone their shameful on-the-field performances, they have been setting new lows off the field as well.
While Tyler Dibling's personal gain transfer decision started it, now all the forwards follow the trend.
You might remember Cameron Archer's individualistic claim some days ago. Well, recently, the player's teammate Kamaldeen Sulemana has recreated it.
So, in his latest media address, Sulemana opened up about his challenges when he struggled to get back his starting spot after an injury in the 2023/24 season. But, unwillingly or willingly, the 23-year-old revealed something later that might displeasure the St. Mary's faithful.
When he was benched, Sulemana admittedly didn’t want Southampton to succeed, until Russell Martin changed his mindset.
As quoted by the Daily Echo, Sulemana reflected on the situation, saying: "When you're on the bench, you're sulking. You don't really want the team to do well so you can get a chance - but he got to a point where I want the team to do well, I felt part of the team."
Now, it's certainly clear from his recent displays that Sulemana has emerged victorious from this phase himself. Still, did he really need to say this? It does nothing but set the wrong example for Southampton’s younger players.
But again, it's a harsh truth that Sulemana's Southampton career has been a flop in guiding the youth rightfully.
