HLN are reporting that Antwerp are in talks with Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad. The talks center around forward Marwan Al-Sahafi, who spent last season on loan at Beerschot. Antwerp had been in talks with Serie C side UC Albino Leffe for forward Mohamed Ali Zoma, but the talks fell through. They will be hoping to have more success with Al-Sahafi, whose raw speed could partner well with striker and now club captain Vincent Janssen.
Al-Sahafi was a bright spot in an otherwise poor season for Beerschot last year. The side, who won the second tier in 2023/2024, were relegated back to the Challenger Pro League without putting up much resistance. The 21-year-old Al-Sahafi played 28 games for the side and scored six goals, including a few impressive solo ones.
Antwerp have had a transitional summer and without European football are having to operate on limited funds. Al-Sahafi would bring some excitement to the front line with his dribbling ability and speed.
