MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continues with Antigua GFC hosting CD Plaza Amador in Group A on Tuesday at Estadio Pensativo in Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala.

After a 4-1 victory against Managua FC to open its campaign, Antigua GFC was held to a scoreless draw at home against Alianza FC. Francisco Apaolaza leads the team with three goals created, coming from a brace and an assist in the club’s opening match.

Playing its second and final home match of the Group Stage, Los Panzas Verdes will seek to take the full three points and maintain its first place in the group. Meanwhile, Panamanian side Plaza Amador will seek to build on its three points to take the top spot.

Plaza Amador began the 2025 edition with a 3-1 victory over LD Alajuelense, ending the defending champions' unbeaten run in the tournament. Yoameth Murillo and Everardo Rose scored the goals in the team’s lone encounter of the campaign.

Antigua GFC and CD Plaza Amador will face each other for the first time in any type of Concacaf club competition.

For Antigua GFC, this will be their second time facing a Panamanian opponent in the CCAC. In their previous encounter, they came from behind to defeat Club Atlético Independiente 2-1 on Matchday 3 of Group C on August 13, 2024, at Estadio Pensativo in Antigua (GUA). The goals for Antigua were scored by Santiago Gómez with a header and Romario da Silva, while for Plaza Amador, it was Martín Ruíz.

For Club Plaza Amador, this will be their sixth match against Guatemalan clubs. Of their previous five matches, all in the INTERCLUBES Cup, their record stands at 1 win, 3 losses, and 1 draw. Their only victory against a Guatemalan side was a 2-1 comeback win over Cobán Imperial on September 22, 2004, in the first leg of their first-round series, played at the Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City (PAN). The goals for the home side were scored by José “el gato” Justavino and Engin Mitre, while the visitors had taken the lead through Walter Cifuentes.
