Having already won the La Liga title, there is only one significant game left for Real Madrid in the 2023-24 season, the UEFA Champions League final, in which they will face Borussia Dortmund on 1st June.

Before that date arrives, the Merengues still have to play two of their remaining matches in La Liga, one against Villarreal and another against Real Betis. With no real prize at stake for winning these games, these ties can still help Carlo Ancelotti keep his team in ideal shape ahead of the UCL final.

In fact, according to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid had already planned their approach for the remaining La Liga matches since they beat Bayern Munich to qualify for the final, and up to now, everything has been going smoothly.

Under this plan, it was decided that Ancelotti would give more minutes to rotational players for the games played away from home, while the main starters would be used in games at the Santiago Bernabeu.

This approach helped give the fringe players an opportunity to shine on the pitch, while also helping to keep the starters in competitive shape.

Ancelotti played with a team almost made up of bench players in the game against Granada, as it was an away game, and returned to his best eleven for the game against Alaves at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The upcoming match against Villarreal is also on the road, and the Italian tactician will once again rest his main players, even though the team has had a full week to rest after the Alaves match.

After that, the Real Madrid faithful will be able to see the main starters in the final game at Santiago Bernabeu this season, as the Merengues will host Real Betis on 25th May.
